I’m Throttle Lan, a freelance automotive writer, and passionate DIY mechanic. I run things around here and right after playing with engines, nothing gives me pleasure better than sharing my passion of cars with the world.
I’m a writer at my core and have published a novel – which is poised to do very well. Currently, I’m working on my second novel, with a largely vehicle-inspired theme. I have high hopes for it too, when it comes out.
I have argued, severally, that the W124 Mercedes and the original LS400 (and later, the 430) are without question, the best cars sedans of all time.
Many also agree with me (hello Mulally!)
What many don’t agree with, is my position that a manual tranny and an auto are the same at their core: what makes one better (not superior) is the intended use.
This doesn’t bother me though; I can (happily) live with the reality (of disagreement) assuming I can somehow fund my dream of adorning my garage with three classics: a 1994 W124 straight six (manual tranny, 5-speed) – or the Porsche-built V8 (mated to a 4G-Tronic transmission), a 2006 LS430, and a 2012 LFA.
What else could a man ask for?
