Two days are very special to the auto DIY mechanic and serious vehicle owner, especially for those interested in buying their favorite tools online (read: Amazon) – Prime Day and Black Friday.
If you’re not a fan of Amazon or would rather buy from another online retailer, then, Prime Day’s out – leaving you with only Black Friday which today has seen me curate the best Black Friday deals for DIY mechanics and the serious vehicle owner.

Who’s Eligible for 2024 Black Friday Automotive Deals?
Unlike Prime Day which was (and remains) open only to Amazon Prime members, Black Friday, happening right after Thanksgiving, is open for everyone who has an account not just with Amazon, but also, with every online retailer currently in business today.
Which online retailer doesn’t appreciate the extra business the Black Friday deep discounts bring to their table?
Best Black Friday Deals for DIY Mechanics & Serious Vehicle Owners
Below, I’ve shared my best auto DIY tools of 2024; tools that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed as a DIY mechanic and believe you’ll get more done in your DIY quest if you invest in them.
I also, sincerely believe, you’ll save serious bucks (as a vehicle owner) not just regarding the purchase price but after, during the regular course of maintaining your vehicle and keeping it road-worthy.
After all, who doesn’t appreciate a good deal or an opportunity to save some bucks?
Well, I do – and sincerely know as of fact, that you don’t also mind saving a few bucks here and there, especially in these mad, inflationary times.
So, what are my favorite auto DIY tools of 2024?
1. TopDon TopScan
The TopDon TopScan is one little but extraordinarily powerful scan tool that I honestly believe every serious auto DIY mechanic who’s on a budget should have by their side.
Capable of bi-directional capabilities, the ability to scan various vehicle modules (not just the engine and transmission), and recently, FCA and Renault Security Gateways, this is one scanner I’ve never regretted owning for a day.
If you’ll love to read a detailed review of the TopDon TopScan, you can find that here; the unit is as badass as they come.
That said, the regular, undiscounted price of the unit is already a deal. However, at the current deeply Black Friday price the unit is going for at the moment, it’s nothing short of a steal.
Here’s a link to the discounted price of the TopScan on Amazon.
2. Ancel AD410
Because of the bulk of traditional scanners and the space they take in the glove box (if they even get into it in the first place), I’ve always been a fan of keeping a code reader in the glove box instead and over the years, have had my fair share of them.
The Ancel AD410 stands out though, without question. It is as rugged as they come and I’m prepared to keep it as long as it still works. It simply fits into my palm and does it thing gently and most reliably.
I’ve spoken about the unit severally and have a lot of positive things to say about it. However, if you’ve missed my conclusions, here’s a direct link to the review of the AD410 I published sometime ago.
That review contains everything you need to know and understand about the code reader and importantly, what to expect, should you decide to go with it.
The Ancel AD410 is available, for the Black Friday season at a discounted price on Amazon, a discount that makes perfect sense to the pocket.
3. Foxwell ST201 Smoke Machine
Before my hands touched this smoke machine, my life was hell: I had a persistent CEL that try as hard as I could to isolate it, I couldn’t. It was the dreaded P0456.
Then, the ST201 showed up and the ‘battle’ was off – right after connecting it to a power source and firing it on. I instantly determined that the challenge was from an intake gasket that didn’t seal up properly.
Sorted, that was the end of the annoying code that poped up every 20 miles or so.
But, the versatility of the Foxwell smoke machine is as legendary as its simplicity: I also discovered that I had multiple exhaust leaks – all of which the unit help pinpoint, with striking accuracy.
It’s impossible to handle DIY tasks with a degree of certainty without the power and guidance of a smoke machine such as the ST201.
Fortunately, it’s on sale at a discounted Black Friday price at the moment and you can easily get the professional-level assistance it offers on Amazon right away.
4. Ancel BM300 Pro Battery Monitor
Do you remember the excitement that follows the arrival of something that you’ve greatly anticipated and the rapid heartbeats that follow when you finally get to open the parcel?
This was exactly how I felt when the Ancel BM300 Pro Battery Monitor was on its way to my address. Finally, I was sure and thoroughly excited that I wouldn’t need to physically get to my starter battery before I could get details about what was happening to it.
The BM300 Pro turned out just fine – and I was positively impressed (though I liked it better on my battery storage than the starter battery).
If you’re interested in my thoughts about the unit, I shared them, honestly, via the BM300 Pro Battery Monitor Review.
If you’re like me and absolutely need to figure out what’s happening to your batteries without connecting probes to the terminals, you’ll love the Black Friday deal the monitor is retailing for on Amazon at the moment.
5. Lichamp AC Recharge Kit
If you’ve ever needed to drive during the tough summer months when Mother Nature is as unforgiving as she can ever be (or live in the tropics), then, no one needs to remind you of the importance of making sure that you keep yourself cool.
Unfortunately, sometimes, the refrigerant levels of your vehicle decide to drop for no good reason and going to the shop or calling an AC technician to check it isn’t an option.
Enter the Lichamp AC recharge kit with more adaptors than you know what to do with. Grab a can of refrigerant, attach the appropriate hose and in less than five minutes, you have optimal cooling again.
Anything better than that, especially at the Black Friday price Amazon is now offering the kit?
